Become a Sister

A person who feels the call of God for the consecrated life goes through a discernment process with the help of the sisters of the congregation.

Following a period of formation, the woman religious makes a commitment by taking vows

  • of chastity, in which she makes a commitment to celibacy in response to God’s call and to bear witness to his love;
  • of poverty, in which she chooses to experience the simplicity of life through constant internal conversion; and
  • of obedience, in which she seeks to fulfill the will of God in an attitude of inner freedom.

The mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) is rooted in a spirituality inspired by the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

That mission takes on its full meaning in the objective of promoting the full development of the human person.

Faithful to the charism of our foundress, Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher, we serve the Church. Through our education work, we convey an interest in and a concrete commitment to promoting justice.

From the schools of YESTERDAY to the NEW HORIZONS of today, through our various ministries, we try to obtain more equitable living conditions for all peoples
