Sr. Anne-Marie Jobin

April 8, 1930 – September 25, 2016

I was born in 1930, April 8 at the Misericordia Hospital. The 1st child of Florence Picard and Jack Jobin. I have one sister Jackie, married to Finley Robinson and a brother David with a deceased wife, also several nieces and nephews.

I was a very sick baby, but with many prayers of family and friends and with plenty of good care I was blessed with life. I was very pleased I was able to go to school at St. Mary’s Academy. Learning was very difficult and the Sisters of the Holy Names were very helpful.

When I left school I took a comptometer course and worked 6 years in the Hudson Bay office. Then I felt the Lord was calling me to serve Him in Religious Life. I entered the community of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, taking the religious name Sr. Florence Ann. After I made my vows I returned to SMA. I helped the Sisters in many ways. I also taught the students in commercial how to use the comptometer.

When Christ The King convent opened, I went there to cook for the Sisters. Something there I had to learn. I also helped in the school and parish. The Flin Flon sisters needed a cook. I was there for 3 years, and then the convent closed. When I returned to Winnipeg, I lived at St. Ignatius and our home on McMillan Avenue. From there, I brought Holy Communion to the Shut-Ins for St. Mary’s Parish for 10 years. I found other places to serve besides.

When I began slowing up, I moved to Despins Résidence so I could live with our elderly Sisters in 2007.

Life is a challenge and I thank the good Lord for caregiving me through. Thanks to all of you for journeying with me.
