Sr. Marguerite Lemoine

October 15, 1921 – November 26, 2017

Sister Marguerite Lemoine (Sr. Agathe-des-Anges) was called to her God on November 26, 2017 at Actionmarguerite (St. Boniface) Manitoba. She leaves to mourn her passing, her brother Paul, her sisters-in-law, Claudette and Doris, her nephews and nieces, and the members of her religious congregation. She was preceded in death by her brothers Louis-Paul, Marius, Etienne and Joseph, her sisters Mariette, Jeannine and Rachel, her sisters-in-law Lucille and Angéline, and her brother-in-law Albert Brisson.

Marguerite was born in St. Agathe, Manitoba on October 15, 1921. She was the second child in a family of eight of Adolphe Lemoine and Ida Dorge. She attended school in St. Agathe and St. Pierre-Jolys. Later on, she pursued her studies and obtained a teaching certificate, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba.

Marguerite entered the novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary at Outremont, Québec on July 24, 1941 and made her perpetual vows on August 5, 1948. After for 40 years as a classroom teacher, she continued, as a librarian to do what she loved. Her teaching experience was varied in teaching levels and locations: St. Pierre-Jolys, St. Joseph’s Academy, Kenora, St. Jean-Baptiste, Marion School, Louis Riel School, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, and St. Anne. Her spirit of generosity was not daunted with age as she continued to serve on different committees, such as Development and Peace and other organizations. Meanwhile, the members of her own religious congregation could always count on her helping hand.
